YOUR CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Paranoia does not sell your personal information. It does share a limited set of it with Meta Platforms for advertising measurement, described in full in the Privacy Policy. Here is how to opt out — no account required.

FIVE WAYS TO OPT OUT

  • Decline the tracking prompt. Decline the App Tracking Transparency prompt the first time it appears. Takes effect immediately.
  • Switch Ads measurement off. In the app, under Profile → MEASUREMENT. Takes effect immediately.
  • Use this page. You are on it. The same MEASUREMENT screen in the app carries a → DO NOT SELL OR SHARE MY INFO row that opens it — reaching this page is itself one of the five ways, and nothing further is required beyond what is described below.
  • By email. Write to hello@checkparanoia.com. No account is required to make this request, and we act on it within 15 business days.
  • On this website. We honour Global Privacy Control automatically — no account needed and no further action from you. See ON THE WEB below for exactly what the pixel is, who it is gated for, and what the signal reaches.

WHAT WE SHARE, AND WITH WHOM

We do not sell your personal information. We do share it — using the word the way California’s privacy law defines it — for cross-context behavioural advertising. The categories we share are: identifiers (Civil Code §1798.140(v)(1)(A)) — your advertising identifier, your device’s vendor identifier, an anonymous identifier Meta assigns your install, the _fbp/_fbc cookie values set on checkparanoia.com, and your IP address; commercial information (§1798.140(v)(1)(D)) — that you purchased Paranoia Plus; and internet or other electronic network activity information (§1798.140(v)(1)(F)) — that the app was installed and opened, and, on checkparanoia.com, the pages you viewed there and the page that referred you to it. The recipient is Meta Platforms, Inc., which is an independent controller of this data, not a processor working under our instructions. The purpose is measuring whether our own advertising works — there are still no advertisements inside Paranoia, and this is not used to build a profile of you for any other purpose.

In the app, in the twelve months before the date of this page, we did not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We began doing so with app version 3.2.0. On checkparanoia.com, we began sharing personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising on September 15, 2026. We do not have actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

Full detail — including exactly what Meta’s advertising SDK sends, what RevenueCat forwards on our behalf, and what Apple’s own SKAdNetwork mechanism does separately — is in the Privacy Policy.

HOW TO OPT OUT IN THE APP

No account is required to see or use the two controls in the app itself; you are shown the App Tracking Transparency prompt the first time you open Paranoia, and Profile’s MEASUREMENT screen holds the switch and the opt-out row, whether or not you have finished signing in.

  • Decline the tracking prompt. The App Tracking Transparency prompt reads, word for word: “Used only to measure whether our ads brought you here. Paranoia works identically if you decline.” Declining stops your device’s advertising identifier from ever being collected.
  • Switch Ads measurement off in Profile, under MEASUREMENT. This takes effect immediately and stops the on-device advertising SDK from reporting further app opens.
  • → DO NOT SELL OR SHARE MY INFO is the exact row label under Profile’s MEASUREMENT card. It opens this page.

ON THE WEB

On checkparanoia.com we honour Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends the signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out of sharing. That signal applies to the browser or device that sent it, not to an account — Paranoia has no accounts on the website side to apply it to. The app has no equivalent browser signal to receive; in the app, the ATT prompt and the Ads measurement switch described above are the controls, and each applies to that device only.

This changed on September 15, 2026. checkparanoia.com now loads Meta’s advertising pixel, but only for visitors outside the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland whose browser does not send a Global Privacy Control signal — the same gate described above decides this before the pixel ever requests anything. For an allowed visitor, the pixel sets two first-party cookies on this origin, _fbp and _fbc, and our server reports three events: a page view; a waitlist Lead, sent from our own server and carrying that visitor’s IP address, user agent, and _fbp/_fbc cookie values — never an email address, hashed or otherwise; and an App Store tap, recorded per creative so we can tell which one a visitor came from. Meta Platforms is an independent controller of what it receives from us, not a processor working under our instructions, and decides its own further uses of that data. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy’s ADVERTISING MEASUREMENT and THIS WEBSITE sections.

BY EMAIL

Email hello@checkparanoia.com and say what you want done. No account is required to make this request (§7026(c)) — this applies whether or not you have ever signed in to the app. We act on it within 15 business days (§7026(f)(1)). Once you opt out, we wait at least 12 months before asking you to opt back in.

IF YOU ARE IN THE EU OR THE UK

Our legal basis for advertising measurement and product analytics is your consent, under Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. You can withdraw it at any time, using the two switches in Profile under MEASUREMENT and, on iOS, by revisiting the App Tracking Transparency permission in your device Settings. Withdrawing your consent does not affect anything we did with data before you withdrew it. Full detail on where each processor’s data travels is in the Privacy Policy.

We give every user these controls, whether or not California law requires it of a company our size.

Free on the App Store. Every control above works the same whether or not you download it.
